Cost Competitive
Winnipeg has the second lowest business costs in Western Canada according to a 2008 study by KPMG, and holds a competitive advantage over most midwestern North American cities.
In all 17 industries studied by KPMG (including biomedical research and development, clinical trials, product testing, software design, multimedia, corporate back office services, electronics and aerospace) Winnipeg was more cost competitive than the average.
Overall, in terms of business cost competitiveness, Winnipeg ranked third among mid and large sized cities in Midwest North America with populations over 500,000.
These results mirror a Canadian Business magazine survey in which Winnipeg ranked in the top 10 Canadian cities to do business in, according to the most recent business cost analysis conducted by the magazine.
